The emphasis is on academic excellence aimed at obtaining university entrance qualifications. From Year 10 onwards the course material and examinations are set by the University of London, University of Cambridge and the Midland examining Group. New School students obtain qualifications enabling them to continue their studies anywhere in the world. Small classes, pupil-centred activites and effective pupil-teacher relationships ensure that every student achieves his or her personal best.
Good behaviour and academic effort are achieved by encouraging self-respect, respect for others and a sense of responsibility to oneself and the community. The school's caring atmosphere ensures that every child or young person is integrated easily and quickly, while a dynamic pastoral system promotes the welfare and development of the individual and enables any problems to be resolved promptly.
